Doris Phillips Ghan
Doris Isabelle Phillips, the 10th child of Joel and Iva (Bussard) Phillips was born March 12, 1923, in Battlefield, Missouri, and departed this life May 15, 2015, at Manor Care in Springfield, MO. Doris was united in marriage to Hartzel Ghan on July 3, 1943. They were blessed with two children Beverly and Brent. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and retired from St. John’s Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, eight brothers – Loren, Clella, Hershel, Lee, Roscoe, Oren, Earnest and Eugene Phillips, and two sisters – Thetta Fugitt Arndt and Helen Freeman. She leaves her loving children Beverly Steelman and husband Bob, and Brent Ghan. Also surviving are three precious grandchildren – Sarah Hicks and husband Cody, Jessica and Rachael Ghan, one great-granddaughter Tayah Scott, and two sister-in-laws – May Dean and Jane Phillips.
Visitation will be Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM and funeral services will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 1 PM in Greenlawn Funeral Home South located in Springfield with nephew Gary Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Patterson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Manor Care Activities Department.
