Doris Willene Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed into the arms of her Jesus, at her home surrounded by her family on June 13, 2024. Born on April 23, 1937, in Imboden, AR, to Berry “Buster” and Beulah Holder. On December 21, 1956, in Pleasant Hope, Missouri, Dewey and Doris married after only the third date. Together they spent the next 67 years making a lifetime of memories.
Doris would light up the room wherever she went. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother and extraordinary human being. Her generosity knew no bounds. Doris will be remembered for her laughter, her love for anyone and everyone around her, and her love of gospel music.
Throughout her life, Doris touched the hearts of all who knew her with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will be cherished by her loved ones for generations to come.
Doris will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind spirit, loving heart, and the profound impact she had on those around her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and memories she created during her time on this earth.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Berry “Buster” Franklin Holder and Beulah Idella (Davis) Holder McKnight, and her sister, Pauletta McMullin. She is survived by her husband Dewey Smith; daughters: Teresa McMullin, Tammy Payne, and Lesa Murphy, and husband, John Murphy; grandchildren: Jasmine Payne, Stacy McMullin, Michelle McMullin, Tia Sammons, and husband, Tyler Sammons, Zach Payne, Forrest Murphy, and Sarah Murphy; great-grandchildren: Skyler and Dyllon Francka, Hayden and Journey Pritchard, Atley and Judah Sammons, and Callahan Todd.
The family of Doris would like to extend their gratitude to the personnel at CMH Hospice for all the loving care they provided.
A visitation for Doris will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at Pitts Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be held at Slagle Cemetery near Bolivar, Missouri.
