Dorthy was the third of three children born to Leslie and Nettie (Hull) Gilmore. She was born 25 April, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri. She attended Doling School and Reed, Jr. High in Springfield. She was ill as a child with rheumatic fever and was only allowed to play quietly. They thought she would not have a long life. She showed them! Dorthy was working at Newberry Dime Store in Springfield where she met Jack Neff. They married on 13 October 1944. Dorthy was a lifelong member of Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church. Dorthy and Jack had one son Alan. They all loved antiques and their house is like a museum. Dorthy suffered from a severe stroke in 2014 and eventually recovered enough to spent most of the day in her home. She had a setback about 3 months ago and her health gradually failed. She has now found peace in Heaven. Dorthy is survived by Alan Neff, his wife Pat of Springfield, two step granddaughters, 5 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great-great grandchildren. She loved them all. Dorthy is also survived by nephew Ted Stout of Hawaii and niece Carol Stout of Tucson.
