Dorothy Dell Haley, age 83 of Springfield, MO, went to be with our Lord on November 26, 2009. She was born on June 11, 1926 in Franklin, Missouri, the daugher of Robert and Willie Mae Green. On November 20th, 1943, she and Marvin Haley were united in marriage. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Dorothy’s family was the center of her attention and she enjoyed spending time with all members of her immediate and extended family. Through the years, Dorothy was a minister’s wife, a dental assistant, and worked for a time at Royal-McBee.
Dorothy has an unwavering faith in the Lord that helped her through many trials in her life. Her positive and forgiving attitude is something Dorothy modeled for friends and family. She always was interested in the success of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, no matter how big or small. Dorothy was proud of her entire family, which brought joy to her life. Her hobbies included traveling, shopping, garage sales and flea markets.
Her husband, Marvin Haley, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers, preceded her in death. Her sister, Eula Mae Smith; brothers, Dwain Green and Don Green; her children Danny Haley, Donna White, Cindy Ewens, James Haley, and Marvin Haley II; several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive her.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m -6 p.m. Sunday, November 29 at Davis Funeral Home in Boonville, Missouri. Funeral services will be at the same location at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30, with burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at James River Care Center.
