Dorothy Thompson Beesley, 95, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Maranatha Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born in Springfield, Missouri to Charles and Mary Jane Thompson on July 25, 1923. She attended schools in Springfield and graduated from Central High School in 1941. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized at High Street Baptist Church in 1938. Dorothy married Martin Beesley in 1942 and they had three children ; Patsy, Nancy and Jim. She was a homemaker and worked as a nurse asistant in the nursery at Cox South for a few years. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin and daughter Nancy Kiefer.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Patsy Rhoades and husband Kenneth and son Jim Beesley and son-in-law Charles Kiefer, six grandchildren Stephen Rhoades and wife Laurie, Cheryl Frye and husband Paul, Stephanie Widner and husband Lance, Kristin Walker and husband Travis, George Beesley and William Beesley, and twelve great grandchildren, Brittney Jensen and husband Casey, Colleen Springman and husband Jason, Jennifer and Nicole Rhoades, Makayla, Nathan, Madelyn, and Natalie Frye, Zoe Widner, Joshua, Caleb and Grace Walker.
Contributions can be made in Dorothy's name to the Mission Fund at High Street Baptist Church, in Springfield.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
