Edith Elizabeth (Lee) Hutchinson went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 15, 2021, in Springfield, MO, at the age of 87.
Edith is survived by her daughter Diana & son-in-law Brian Francis of Springfield, MO; grandson Nathan Francis & his wife Natalie of Springfield and their daughters Macy & Eliza; grandson Darin Francis & his wife Joy of Wilmington, NC and their son Hutch; sister Wilda Hoffman of Rolla; and sister Dorothy Raby of Peculiar. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years JC Hutchinson, and her parents, Ray and Mayme Lee, of Sparta, MO.
Edith was born on November 23, 1933, in Sparta, MO to Ray and Mayme (Lawson) Lee. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1951. She married her husband, JC, in 1967. Edith and JC had one daughter, Diana, with whom they were very close. Edith had a long career working for Zenith for over 25 years, where she retired in 1993. Edith’s family remembers her as a kind, patient, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Edith was a dedicated member of her church, South Haven Baptist Church, and was always willing to serve. She enjoyed attending bible study and helping prepare meals for those in need in the congregation. She also volunteered nearly every Wednesday morning for eighteen years at the Baptist Nursing Home in Ozark, painting nails and being a constant source of encouragement for the residents there. She was a generous and selfless individual who loved the Lord, her family, taking walks at the park, reading, going to Silver Dollar City, and chatting on the phone with her daughter and niece.
A visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 18 at Greenlawn North Funeral Home (3506 N National Ave), with a graveside service to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ryan Palmer of South Haven Baptist will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Edith’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Baptist Home in Ozark at 1625 W Garton Rd, Ozark, MO 65721.
