Edna Jean (Clouse) Stone, 73, Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday morning, January 27. She was surrounded by family and friends
Born in Springfield on July 16, 1941 to Jimmie and Emogene (Mathis) Clouse, Edna graduated from Central High School in 1959. Edna married Loren Charles Stone on November 7, 1964. They spent 50 joyous years together. Edna and Charlie lovingly raised two children, Gail and David.
A lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Edna loved the Lord and her church. Edna touched many lives teaching Sunday school and bible school. In recent years she enjoyed preparing and serving meals for the after school program.
During her children’s elementary school years she volunteered at the York Elementary Library. She worked for eighteen years for Springfield Public Schools Food Services as a cook at Central High School. Edna’s kindness and smile brought happiness into the lives of numerous students.
Preceding her in death were her parents Jimmie and Emogene (Mathis) Clouse.
She is survived by her loving family, husband Loren Charles; sister Betty and husband Roger Dale Hauth; daughter Gail and husband Dan Scroggins; and son David and wife Krista. Edna is also survived by her two grandsons Jack and Jimmy Stone in whom she found the greatest joy and loved dearly. Numerous family and friends will remember her fondly. The family gives special thanks to Edna’s caregiver Connie Gleasner and Oxford Hospice.
Services will be 3:00 pm Friday, January 30th at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Reverend Carl Rees officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 29 at the funeral home
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Oxford Hospice.
