Edward C. Carlstrom was born November 4, 1935 in Malden, MO to Dr. Graydon and Mary Jane (Buchanan) Carlstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Florina Chambers Carlstrom and brother, Dr. Graydon James Carlstrom.
After graduating from MO School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO, he worked for the MO Highway Department of Transportation for 37 ½ years, retiring with 40 years of service. He held positions in Construction, Traffic and Maintenance. After retiring from MODOT, he worked for Murney and Associates, putting out their For Sale signs. He believed you had to do at least one productive thing each day to live on this earth.
Ed served in the Army National Guard, 140th Infantry in Bernie, MO. He was united in marriage to Patsy Pfeffer on April 9, 1961 in Parma, MO. He is survived by his wife, a son, James Edward and wife, Victoria, and two grand-daughters: Chandler Jane and Madeline Anne and a daughter, Jane Ellen Carlstrom, all of Springfield, also, a brother, Charles and wife Jo Ann of Poplar Bluff, MO and brother, George and wife, Elaine of Centennial, CO and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 North National, visitation will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. before services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
