Edward Franklin Copher
Edward Franklin Copher, age 69, of Springfield, Mo., passed away peacefully Monday, September 7, 2009 at Christian Health Care Republic. He was born August 15, 1940, in Joplin, Mo., to Ted Arthur and Flossie Copher. He joined the United States Army at age 17 and served 2 tours in Vietnam, later serving in the United States National Guard, and had been employed by the United States Postal Service. He is a member of National Ave. Assembly of God. His parents, Ted Arthur and Flossie Copher; sisters, Ina Hamlin, Lela McCullough; brother, James Copher, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Arcesia Copher of Springfield, Mo.; six children, Carlos Mendoza of Springfield, Roberto Mendoza and wife Ana of Charleston, South Carolina, Ted Copher of Kansas City, Mo., Maria Copher of Springfield, William Copher of Springfield, David Copher of Springfield; three grandchildren, Alexandria Mendoza, Ana Mendoza, Sophia Copher; sister, Martha Johnston of Joplin, Mo.; and two brothers, Eddie Copher of Hot Springs, Ark., and Miles Copher. Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 in National Ave. Assembly of God with Rev. James Cookson officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North Springfield, Mo.
