Edward “Ed” Leon Wilson, age 74, of Springfield, MO went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020.
Ed was born in Buckner, MO on Father’s Day June 16, 1946 to Jesse and Edna (Paddock) Wilson. He was the seventh of 13 children and worked on the farm with his family at a young age. After high school he joined the Air Force and served for 6 years as Military Police in the Canine Corp.
He met Judith (Judy) Smith at Baptist Bible College, and they married on May 9, 1981. He was a faithful, active member of Cherry Street Baptist Church of Springfield. He served in the bus ministry and Reformers Unanimous. He was known as the “Amen” man. He never met a stranger, and always made everyone feel welcome. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed family time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; Children: Edward (Kari) Wilson of Springfield, MO, Lucy (Bobby) Buckley of Big Sandy, TN and David Wilson of Springfield, MO; Stepdaughter: Cherri Robertson of Illinois; Grandchildren: Dustin, Gage, Cody, Bethany, Robert, Kara, Isobelle, Kali and Jonathan; Great Grandkids: Ella, Alan, Jasmin, Edge.
Ed will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, MO under the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 in the funeral home.
