Elda Belle Coleman, age 94, of Springfield, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in her home. She was born July 29, 1921, in Keowee, OK, to Martin and Goldie (Overton) Messenger. She was united in marriage to Rev. Charles E. Coleman on August 9, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma. Elda and her husband spent their life spreading God’s word , serving as missionaries in Pakistan. Elda was a member of Dale Street Baptist Church. She loved to play the piano, and cook, she will always be remembered for her apple pie and chocolate cake. She was known for being a gracious hostess, and loved being around people. She truly had a servants heart, she was passionate of helping people of all ages.
She was preceded in death by Parents Martin and Goldie Messenger; one brother; and three sisters. She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Charles Edmond Coleman, Springfield, MO; five children, Dan Coleman, Oklahoma City, OK, Diane Miller, Escalon, CA, Marian Coleman, Lincoln NE, Kevin Coleman, Springfield, and Clara Ann Coleman, Springfield; Grandchildren: Michelle Lall, Danielle Coppola, Donovon Coleman,Ryan Coleman, Chelsea Coleman, Melissa Videion. Great Grandchildren: Bryan, Angelica, Kaylee, Lauryn, and Kyler; and a host of family and friends from all over the world. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rubina Durrani for over sixty years care and service to Elda and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Dale Street Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Bible Fellowship P.O. 191, Springfield, Missouri 65801. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
