Elva Lee (Poston) McCoy, 79, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, following a long battle with several health issues. She was born April 14, 1936, in Centreville, Illinois to Adele May Schuab Poston and Virgil Kenneth Poston. She was one of seven siblings.
Over a period of 20 plus years, she moved and traveled to many places as a military wife. She raised five children during those years. Besides being a great mom, she was a creative and artistic person. These traits were exhibited in her cooking, sewing, drawing, writing, and crafty creations. She was known for her dolls and rugs that she sewed and sold too many individuals throughout the United States.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Shirley Sims of Trenton, Illinois; her son Buddy McCoy of Anchorage, Alaska; and her son-in-law Kyle Koechner of Tipton, Missouri. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Allen McCoy of Mountain View, Missouri; three daughters: Nancy L Windsor and husband Marshall of Tyler, TX, Kathleen A Koechner of Tipton, Missouri and Leanne M. Knapp and husband Buster of Hartville, Missouri; one son, Carl A McCoy and wife Marti of Grain Valley, Missouri; her siblings: George Poston, Jim Poston, Bonnie Walker, and Kenneth Poston, all from Illinois, and William Poston of Tucson, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A private burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
