Etta Obera (Gibson) Winfree, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 17, 2022. “Obera” was born on February 24, 1930, in Sage Arkansas, daughter of Willie Fate and Eva Beatrice Gibson. She became a Christian in the early 50’s at High Street Baptist Church and is a member of Baptist Temple. She was employed in manufacturing and retail in her young adult life but most of her life she enjoyed being a wife, mom and homemaker. She prepared many meals for others including soldiers who guarded a helicopter crash site near her home. Many remember her infamous rum cakes.

She is survived by daughter Patricia and (Delvan) Hendrix of Texas, son-in-law Howard Irvine of Missouri, brother-in-law James and (Sharon) Winfree of Illinois, grandchildren Melissa and (Tim) Ousley, Michael and (Melodie) Irvine, Vance and (Jenifer) Hendrix, Ashley and (Anya) Hendrix, and seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 72 years William Edward Winfree Jr., daughter Sharon Jean Irvine and her brother-in-law Vernon Winfree.

Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2022, 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral home with Funeral Services following at 12:00 pm and burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Springfield Missouri.
