Fay A. Woodrome
Fay A. Woodrome, age 98, formerly of Paola, Kansas, passed away at Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, Kansas on Sunday, December 20, 2009. Fay was born July 24, 1911 on the Greene-Webster county line east of Springfield, Missouri. She was the sixth of seven children born to Charles L. and Bessie L. (Snider) Yarbrough. She attended Locust Prairie School in Missouri. She lived around and east of Springfield, Missouri until moving to Kansas in 1952. Fay loved the Lord, having given her life to Jesus at an early age, at the Bass Chapel Baptist Church, north and east of Springfield, Missouri in a church that was named after her great grandfather, Sampson Bass, who donated land for the church building. She married Ross Woodrome on July 25, 1928 and they shared over 49 years of married life together until his death in April of 1977. To their union was born three children, a daughter Genavie, a son Wayne Elmer who died shortly after birth, and a second son Gale. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters, an infant son Wayne Elmer, her husband Ross, daughter Genavie Womack, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son Gale Woodrome of Ottawa, Kansas; a son-in-law and his wife Lewis and Jeannie Womack of Springfield, Missouri; three granddaughters Cheri Womack of Springfield, Missouri, Marcia Aguiar and her husband Manuel of Medina, Ohio, and Melanie Bowman and her husband Preston of Olathe, Kansas; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Green Lawn North Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. with visitation an hour prior from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be in the Bass Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery located north of Strafford, Missouri.
