Forrest L. Owens Sr., 78, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in his home on Saturday May 09, 2015. He is survived by his three children, Forrest L. Owens Jr and his wife Angela, of Willard, MO, his daughter Cynthia of Springfield, his daughter Sabrina Boyle and her husband David of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by two remaining siblings, Sanford and Rosetta. He is also survived by his significant other Karen McCormack of Springfield, six grandchildren and lifelong friend Connie Owens. Forrest was a special type of person in that he never met a stranger. He also enjoyed the opportunity to show his ornery side of life at any given time or place! He had a great passion for singing and loved to play the guitar. Many times in his life, he would spend a great deal of time going from nursing home to nursing home sharing his talents for the benefit and joy of others, and also enjoyed performing at the Ozark Mountain Jubilee. Forrest, was also known for his love of working. He never retired you might say, as even near to the date of going home he still talked about getting another work truck, hauling another load, or the next job that he was planning to do. His smile could light up a room, especially if there was something sweet to be had! He was loved as much as one can be humanly loved and will be missed for the short time that we are apart. We love you Dad! Visitation will be Tuesday May 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A Graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be left at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com
