Freda Durr transitioned from this life to her heavenly home at Mercy Hospital, as the result of a Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. She had a deep faith, trusted her heavenly Father and believed everything happens for a reason. She always put others first and would do anything she could to help someone in need. Freda was a wonderful cook and really loved preparing meals for special occasions and holidays. She worked for the Springfield School system for 17 years. After her illness when she could no longer work she missed the students and teachers so, so very much. She was such a PEOPLE person. Words cannot express how much Freda will be missed, but her family is comforted by the fact she is no longer suffering, and she is with her Sweet Jesus. A special thanks goes out to Mercy Hospice, Dr. Leonardo, special RN nurse Cat and student nurse Stacey. Freda was preceded in death by her father, Blain Hale, two brothers, David and Tom Hale. Also she was preceded in death by father-in-law, Cecil, brother-in-law, Phillip, sister-in-law, Renee Durr. She is survived by her husband, Mark of 31 years, granddaughter, Lauraleigh, mother-in-law, Saundra Durr. Her mother, Pauline Hale, sisters, Nova Hobbs, Alice Hale and brother, Fred Hale and a host of other relatives. Services for Freda will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery.
