Gail Elizabeth Blong was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Alice and Bruce Anderson on December 10, 1936. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1955. Gail and her husband Billy then moved to Minneapolis, MN in their early 20’s, where they raised their family.
They both made careers in the hospitality business. In 1994 they visited Branson for the first time and fell in love with the beauty of the Ozarks and the friendliness of the people. It was always their dream to open and own a restaurant of their own and they decided Branson was the place for them to pursue that dream. They opened BillyGail’s Café on May 18, 1995 and have made it a great success even beyond their wildest dreams. Gail worked tirelessly to make the restaurant a special place for families, friends and visitors to come and eat. She treated each customer as a friend and as a member of her family. Her warm and friendly greeting, opening and welcoming attitude, infectious sense of humor, made each and every customer feel as if they were at home. Gail’s passions included finding treasures at antique stores, garage and yard sales and thrift stores. She proudly displayed her collections both in her home and in her restaurant. She worked in the restaurant everyday well into her 80’s. She said that if you love what you do, do what you love then you will feel as if you haven’t worked a day in your life.
Gail is proceeded in death by her husband, Billy, her brother, Topper and her parents, Bruce and Alice Anderson. Gail is survived by her sister, Judy and her five children: Randy, Donna (Joe), Terri (Mike), Scott (Mary), and Lonnie (Paul). Gail has 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Armed with her faith and strong spiritual program she was ready and willing to go home to see Billy and her Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life will be held for her on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., at the Woodland Hills Family Church in Branson, MO.
