Gary Dean Silvey, age 73, of Battlefield, MO, passed away on December 22, 2014. He was born in Riverside, CA on March 17, 1941, the son of Arnold and Virginia Silvey. They moved to Ava, MO where he attended school. He married Barbara Johnson on February 27, 1970 and they had 44 wonderful years together. Gary worked for Dayco for 41 years before retiring. He loved to go camping, fishing, traveling with his wife and motorcycling with his buddies in the retreads, and you couldn’t get him away from Nascar. Gary was saved at a young age at youth camp and attended Wilson Creek Baptist Church with his wife. He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Silvey, daughters Lori Lynn and Michelle Renee, son Gabriel Dean and brother, Dennis Silvey. Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara, his mother, Virginia of Ava, MO, daughter, Lisa Ussery of Republic, MO, brother’s, Larry and his wife Mae Ruth of Ava, MO, Dan and his wife Nan of Colorado, brother-in-law Ronnie Johnson and wife Joyce, of Ozark, MO sister’s-in-law Donna Massengill of Aurora, MO, Jeanette Johns of Nixa, MO, for grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in Wilson Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wilson Creek Baptist Church Senior Camp Fund. Services have been entrusted in Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
