Gary W. Johnson, age 69 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Hospital Bolivar, MO.   He was born September 12, 1953, in Kansas City, KS, to Irvin Cecil and Joan (Lance) Johnson who precede him in death.  He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Anita VanVacter March 29, 1974, and to this union two daughters were born.  He received both his bachelor’s and Master’s degree from UMKC.  He retired from Amoco Petroleum as Director of Operations.  He volunteered with the SCORE organization.

          Gary was proud of his accomplishments, he worked fulltime while earing his degree’s and taking care of his family.  He may have been tough, but he was the kindest, most considerate, and caring person.  He loved spending time with his grandson doing fun little projects.

          Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years Anita of the home; two daughters: Sheri Bennett and her husband Austin, and Kristy Watts and her husband Eric all of Kansas City, MO; two grandsons: Alexander and Kellen Watts of Kansas City, MO; a sister Brenda Loftus of Indianola, IA; a niece Shana Loftus of Indianola, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.

          According to Gary’s wishes his body will be cremated.  A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Pitts Chapel.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery Bolivar, MO.  Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
