George Lowell (Smitty) Smith, age 91, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at Magnolia Square .
Lowell was born March 25, 1928 , in Lexington, OK to George and Jewel Smith . He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School in May of 1946. Lowell was united in marriage to Ginger Hufft on October 3, 1948, in Bakersfield, CA. He retired from the city of Springfield in 1991. Lowell enjoyed crossword puzzles, refinishing antiques, and watching Oklahoma football. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Macedonia Bapitst Church.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Cindy Hilton; son, Dana Smith; grandchildren, Meredith Kleeman and Melissa Shelton; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Jewel Smith, wife, Ginger Smith; and one sister Marge Hill.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 16th, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Hazelwood Cemetery 1642 East Seminole Springfield, Missouri 65804, The family will receive friends from 11 am – 12:30 pm, Monday at Greenlawn South Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lowell's name to Pheonix Hospice or Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund. Funeral services have been entrusted to Greenlawn South Funeral Home.
