Glenda Carol Chapman, age 76, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, in her home. She was born October 22, 1937, in Santa Paula, CA, to Dwight and Lily (Breshears) Farmer. She received her BA degree from Kean College in New Jersey. She was saved as a young girl at Nemo Baptist Church. She was a member of the True Hope Baptist Church. She is a long time member of AA and sober for over 35 years. Glenda was given the best care by her daughter and long time caregiver, Kathleen. She enjoyed attending the Southside Senior Center in Springfield, to eat and play bingo. She was the best Mother!
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Walter I. Chapman.
She is survived by three children: Vickie Austin of Belle, MO, Dwight Dudley Stutz of Savannah, GA, and Kathleen Stutz of Springfield, MO; one granddaughter, Summer Surritte of Springfield, MO; one great grandson Layne Shackleford; one sister, Shirley Brakebill and husband Jackie of Springfield, MO; 13 step-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Polk, MO.
