Glenda Marie Holbert Shepherd, 96, went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2021. Born on March 5, 1924 to Cora Ann (Rush) and John Holbert in Bolivar, Missouri, Glenda, the youngest of seven children, was raised in the Bolivar area and attended Bolivar Public Schools. Following graduation, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Bolivar Grocer Company. She married Clifford (Cliff) Dale Shepherd on October 27, 1946. In 1950, the couple moved to Buffalo as the new owners of Shepherd/Morgan Hatchery and Feed Store. Glenda became a fulltime homemaker and mother when they were blessed with sons, Ronald Kent and Kim Allen. After Cliff’s passing in 1993, Glenda returned to Bolivar where she resided until 2014 when she moved to Tallgrass Estates in Bartlesville, OK to be near Kim and his family. She transitioned to Brookdale Assisted Living in July, 2020 where she resided until her passing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bolivar.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her son Ron, parents Cora and John and siblings Willard (Holly) Holbert, Cleo (Toad) Holbert, Galen (Bill) Holbert, Henry (Hank) Holbert, Mabel Holbert Bates and Lena Oleta Holbert Richards.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Kim and Tammy of Bartlesville, OK; daughter-in-law, Mary of Savannah, MO; grandchildren Chris and Krystal Shepherd of Kansas City, MO; Brent Shepherd of St. Joseph, MO; Erica and Dee Derryberry of Bentonville, AR; Larissa and Brent Dugger of Bartlesville, OK; Aaron and Maegan Shepherd of Greenwood, AR; and 8 great grandchildren: Caleb Derryberry; Kenzie Derryberry; Cooper Derryberry; Addison Dugger; Macie Dugger; Haxton Shepherd; Natalie Hall; and Oliver Shepherd. She is also survived by her niece and husband, Nancy and Ron Richards of Bolivar, MO and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Glenda Shepherd will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be open from 12:00 -8:00 PM. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery Bolivar, MO.
