In Blue Eye, Missouri on the bright sunny morning of May 22, 2016, at the age 88, Guinevere A “Gwen” “Grams” “Geeg” Conley quietly and peacefully passed on into the welcome arms of her maker and those family and friends who went before. Gwen was born in Boscobel, WI on June 13, 1927 to William Thurlow and Leta Mary Young. Gwen joined in marriage to Edward L. Conley in 1948.
The first of seven children, Daniel E arrived in 1950, in 1952 twins Robert and Robbyn were born, 1953, Kathleen Mary was born, 1954, Vicky Lynn was born and in 1956, twins David W. and Diane W. became the whole of her family. In 1962 Gwen became the sole caretaker and rock of her most precious accomplishments…her children. She loved and supported each of them with fierceness and an iron hand. She instilled hard work, honesty and integrity that transcended into raising seven successful adults who passed on her parenting and life skills to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gwen worked two and sometimes three jobs to make ends meet and even though those years were always a financial struggle, her children were always well kept, warm and safe. If the value of a life is measured by how you cared for, nurtured, and loved those souls given to your care…Gwen was an angel who walked amongst us.
“Gwen was preceded in death by her son David W Conley, and grandson Daniel E.L. Conley, brother’s William and Howard Young and sister, Ruth Young Oaks.
