Helen Alene (Matthews) Lewis, age 90, passed away Sunday, November 15 in Springfield, Missouri, after a lengthy illness.
Helen was born, December 30, 1929 in Waverly, Illinois, the daughter of George and Hazel Matthews.
Helen was united in marriage to Tommy B. Lewis on July 24, 1953 in Springfield, Mo. Helen was a homemaker, preferring to stay home and take care of her family and raising their two sons, Dennis and Darrell.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, two sons, Dennis (Debra) and Darrell (Terry) Lewis, three grandchildren, Lori (Lewis) Rook (Ryan), Dustin Lewis and Landon (Kelli) Lewis, and four great grandchildren, Aidan, Lincoln and Nora Rook, and Mollie Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Wayne and Wendel Matthews.
Gratitude and appreciation is extended to the staff at Woodland Manor, especially the A Wing, for their excellent care and attention to the family. Also thank you to Compassus for hospice services and their care and concern.
Graveside services, under the direction of Greenlawn North, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No public visitation is planned. Local health department guidelines for masks and social distancing should be followed.
