Helen Marie Robertson Bowser passed away at home, finishing her race of life and received her Heavenly reward on Sunday morning, January 8, 2023.
Helen was born on March 21, 1937 in Jasper, MO to Robert and Lois McConnell. She grew up in Carthage, MO where she met her husband, Robert Lee Robertson. They were married from September 25, 1956 until the time of his death on December 4, 1986.
Helen worked at Gospel Publishing House, CoxHealth, Calvary Temple and Convoy of Hope. During her time as Calvary Temple’s secretary, she met her husband, Charles (Chuck) Bowser. They were married on October 22, 1988. They served as lead pastors at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Hardinsburg, KY for three years and Lake Girardeau Assembly of God in Whitewater, MO for 17 years. After they returned to Springfield, MO, she worked at Convoy of Hope as a receptionist until she retired.
Her favorite thing was spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren who affectionately called her “MoMo.” Anyone that had the blessing of knowing or even standing behind her in the checkout line at the grocery store knew that she loved everybody. She was a “hugger!” Helen was loving, caring and kind. She was an encourager and even when her memory failed her and confusion crept in, she remained positive and sweet. Always smiling, everyone could see the joy and love in her heart.
Helen is survived by her husband, Charles Bowser; daughter, Pam Robertson; son, Steve Robertson and his wife, Diana; granddaughter, Megan Robertson and her husband, Uri Claramunt Salgado; granddaughter, Alissa Thompson and her husband, Jesse Thompson; grandson, Dace Robertson and his wife, Katie Robertson; great-grandsons, Eli, Rowan and Cal Thompson; brother, Robert McConnell; sister, Sharon Southern; uncles John and Denzil McConnell; many nieces and nephews and special extended family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Robertson; her parents, Robert and Lois McConnell; and by her brother, Paul McConnell
The visitation and Celebration of Life will be at Greenlawn North on Wednesday, January 11. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. The celebration of her life will be at 3:00 p.m. with a graveside service after.
