Helen McCroskey – Phillips, 90, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2015, at Cox South in Springfield MO.
Helen was born in Morrisville MO, Sept 5, 1924 to Elmer and Ethel McKnight.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ethel McKnight, brother Bob McKnight, and husbands Lloyd McCroskey and Joseph Phillips.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Sherry Braddock and husband Dave of Dallas TX, Carol Coursey and husband Dale of Springfield, son Phillip McCroskey and wife Lisa of Republic. She had 6 grandchildren, Rene Woods and Gena Locke, both of Dallas TX, Shane Coursey of Republic, Eric Coursey of Springfield, Matthew McCroskey and Eden McCroskey of Springfield. She also had 5 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great- Grandchildren.
After graduating from Morrisville High School Helen moved to Springfield and attended college while working in downtown Springfield. In July,
1946, she went to work for American National Insurance Company. She worked for ANICO for 20 years, then began a career at Empire Bank and retired August 16, 1990, with 25 years of service.
Helen loved and served the Lord all her life. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church for over 45 years, ministering in numerous areas. She then joined High Street Baptist Church, 50 + club, with husband Joseph after their marriage. She taught her children the importance of serving God and depending on Him daily.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday July 19, 2015 at Greenlawn East. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm. Helen will be missed immensely by her family.
