Ione Agnes Dougherty, Springfield, Missouri, was born in Parkston, South Dakota on October 4, 1931 and peacefully passed away on December 8, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri. She graduated from Parkston High School in South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Jerald Dougherty on April 22, 1950, in Yuma, Arizona. Ione was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Agnes Christensen; and two brothers, Bill and Charles Christensen. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Dougherty; two sons, Daniel (Betsy) Dougherty and Kelly (Nancy) Dougherty; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Summer) Dougherty, Alicia (Justin) Rakestraw, Emily Dougherty, Matthew Dougherty; and three precious great-grandchildren, Raygan and Kaylea Dougherty, Hayden Rakestraw; and one brother, Jim (Joan) Christensen; and one sister, June Hohn. Ione was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri on Friday December 11, 2009, at 10 a.m. No visitation is planned.
