Jack LeRoy Brattin, 86, passed away June 10, 2016, surrounded by his family in Springfield, MO. Jack was born October 17, 1929 in Kansas City, KS, the only child of Gladden Brattin & Thelma A. (Bedell) Brattin. They soon moved to Springfield where Jack grew up, graduating from Central High School and attended Central Bible Institute and Drury College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves along with best friends Bill Brown and Jesse Weaver. The family attended old South Side Assembly, (later Calvary Temple) where Jack was in the choir, played the alto sax & bass fiddle & participated in youth outreach services.
On the recommendation of his pastor, Rev. David Hastie, he was hired by the General Council of the Assemblies of God, working full time almost 47 years, he continued working part time until April of 2012, retiring with 64 years of service.
Jack and Dorothy (Rasnake) were married February 14, 1961 by Rev. Jack West, the first service in Calvary Temple which was still under construction. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Valerie Brattin, St. Charles, MO, and Jacqueline (Tim) Nelson, Battlefield, MO, 3 grandchildren: Natalie, Nathan & wife Oana, and Vanessa Nelson and great-grandson Jaxon, all of Springfield.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Clinton Rasnake.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 11:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with entombment following in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
