Jackie Dawaine Fleshman, August 16, 1944 – March 25, 2015 was a resident of Fair Grove, Missouri for the past two decades. He died of natural causes while recovering from a severe stroke. Although he was born in Waldron, MO, his youth and early years was spent in the Kansas City area. While in Kansas City he worked for Barber and Sons Wholesale Tobacco Company. In these early years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and marrying the love of his life, Carol Sue Carsten.
He was one of four children and was the beloved husband of Carol Fleshman for 36 years. He will forever be remembered and is survived by his children Brian Fleshman and wife Danielle with their children Cade, Donivan, and Addison of Olathe, Kansas; Angela Fleshman-Rimmer with her children Christopher, Kimberly, Cameron and grandson Liam of Nevada, Missouri; Joey Fleshman with his children Jaclyn and Charlie of Springfield, Missouri; and Misty Harris and husband Billy with their children, Austin, Eugene, and Skylar of Fairgrove, Missouri. He is also survived by his nephews, Mark Lindsay, Jeffrey Boydston, Larry Lindsay, Ronald Fleshman and niece Kimberly ‘Bunny’ Fleshman-Musick all of the Kansas City Metro area. He is remembered as well by countless extended family and close friends all of whom were blessed to know him.
Jack, as he preferred to be called, with his wife, Carol, moved to Springfield, Missouri and finish raising their family in 1980. He was a dedicated worker and for a time worked in the family business hanging sheetrock and finishing drywall. Later he retired from Springfield Schools as a bus driver. He loved the students on his bus and they loved him back, bringing him special treats during the holidays.
He enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting for many years. He also enjoyed doing things with his hands, whether it was remodeling their home or the smaller projects like building sheds and lawn furniture. After he retired, he could always be found tinkering with something that needed repaired or design that needed improved on. Also in his early retirement years other hobbies included going to yard sales, auctions and flea markets, as well as, visiting with family and making new friends. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that he loved our Lord, his Family and each of his Friends.
Jack touched the lives of many people with his smile and gift of storytelling and maintained this gift to the very end. He is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, wife and a host of angels. The family invites you to attend his memorial service which will be officiated by Pastor James Nickerson on Friday, April 3rd at 1pm at Greenlawn – North Funeral Home at 3506 North National in Springfield, MO. There will not be a visitation.
