Jean Elizabeth Altizer, began life in Roanoke, VA, To Father and Mother Frank L. and Leona M. Patterson and had brothers Roger and Lewis Patterson. Jean passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on May 2, 1931, Jean lived a life filled with love, devotion, and joy, ultimately joining her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jean married the love of her life, Lacy Linton Altizer, on August 19, 1950. Together, they built a beautiful family and cherished a lifetime of memories. Jean was blessed with their four children: Scott Altizer (Cynthia), Page Freeman (Dave), Bryan Altizer (Debbie), and Sue Blaine Duesing (Bob), who each carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Her family expanded to include eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved and brought immense joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her Husband Lacy (2020), Son Scott (2019), and Grandson Jared (2021)
In 1974, Jean and Lacy moved to Springfield, where they continued to nurture their family and community bonds. Jean had a passion for cooking and was known for her delicious meals that brought family and friends together. She also enjoyed playing Bridge, a game that provided her with countless hours of enjoyment and camaraderie.
Jean’s life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and friendship. She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private service will be held to honor Jean’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of choice, celebrating her spirit of giving and love.
Jean Elizabeth Altizer will be dearly missed, but her spirit and the love she shared will remain with us forever.
