Jeanette Jones, 89, of Springfield, MO, passed away January 25, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO. She was born April 3, 1933, in Brown’s Spring, Stone County, MO, the daughter of Alfred and Jewell Steele Barnett. In 1950, she graduated from Hurley High School and attended Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield, MO. On July 4, 1954, she married Charles L. Jones. They resided in Dixon, IL; Port Jefferson Station, NY; and Mountain Grove, MO, before moving to Jefferson City, MO where she and Charles raised their family from 1968-2003. In Jefferson City, Jeanette worked as a legal secretary at Central Trust Bank from 1970-1988 and at Transit Casualty Company from 1988 until her retirement in 2003. Jeanette was a past president and member of the American Business Women’s Association, LaVida Chapter, and was named Woman of the Year in 1999. In 2003, she and Charles moved to Springfield, MO, and together they spent their retirement with closes family and friends. Jeanette was the kindest, most giving person, who always placed others before herself. She enjoyed cruises and traveling with family to Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, Paris, and most recently, Alaska. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her brother, Shirley Barnett. She is survived by her beloved sister, Barbara Riggs, Clever, MO; her three children and their spouses: Dana (Colin) Pinder, Nassau, Bahamas, Craig (Laura) Jones, Prairie Grove, AR, Angela (Hank) Ketchum, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her eight grandchildren: Leah Johnson, Garrett Pinder, Matthew Jones, Jenna Moree, Joey Woods, Sarah Stokes, Brooke Ketchum, and Olivia Ketchum; and her nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in April, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
