Jimmie Dewitt Riley was born on December 26, 1935 to Howard Riley and Gertrude (Hicks) Riley. He was born in the home in Skidmore, Missouri. Baptized at the first Christian Church of Tarkio, Missouri on August 8th, 1957. He graduated from High School in Tarkio, Missouri. He was very active in the Music Department. He was the drum major his senior year of high school. He attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri and Parson College in Fairfield, Iowa. He received his LPN at Letterman in San Francisco, California. He was a member of Alpha Lamba Sigma, a cheerleader, and active in the music department while in college. While attending college in Tarkio he met the love of his life, Lorraine Emily Carothers. They were united in marriage on August 6th, 1961 at Presbyterian Church in Manilla, Iowa. They were married for 57 years. To this union there were four children born, Laura Ann, Sara Nadine, and Andrew Howard. He loved his family and enjoyed time with them. There were six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ronnie Joe Duff (Erin) of Knox, Indiana, Andrew Montgomery Riley, Emily Marie Farmer (Stephen), Kristofer Nickolaus Riley of Springfield, Missouri, Amber Nicole Riley and Sophia Catherine Riley of Tarkio, Missouri. Great grandchildren Cameron, Caylee, and Cody Duff of Knox, Indiana. Survivors include Laura Ann Henson and Sara Nadine (Robert) Dysinger of Clever, Missouri and Andrew Howard (Amie) Riley of Tarkio, Missouri. Three sister in laws, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Proceeded in death by his parents, baby daughter, wife Lorraine Emily, five sisters, four brothers, two nieces, and two nephews. He served his country for 26 and a half years in the United States Army. Traveling a lot during that time stationed in Okinawa, Germany, Missouri, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, California, and Korea. He was a very devout Christian and very active in the church. He was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Republic, Missouri. He had been a Deacon, Elder, and sang solos. He was a member of the following clubs: American Legion, Lion’s Club, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and AUSA. He coached basketball, was a member of a bowling league, and enjoyed watching sports and singing at the nursing home weekly. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends he has made throughout the years.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, June 24, 2022, at Westside Christian Church in Republic, Missouri, with a burial to follow at Brookline Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
