Jimmie M. Delp, 84, passed away Saturday evening, July 9, 2016 in Springfield,MO, in Cox South Hospital. He was born July 18, 1931, in Springfield, MO, to Lester and Etta (West) Delp. Jimmie was united in marriage to Barbara Kennemer , May 11, 1952. After graduation, from Strafford High, Jimmie attended SMS. He later served in the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jimmie retired from Consolidated Freight Ways in 1979.
Jimmie loved to fish, grow flowers and several different kinds of vegetables. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son James Michael Delp. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara, children; Vickie Salanski, Lee’s Summit, MO. and Karen Barrett, Springfield, MO. five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister; Jo Ann Smith, Lees Summit, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Tom Maples officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Before services on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the funeral home. Jimmie and Barbara want to give a special thank you to their neighbors, 911 first responders, and Cox South Hospital.
