Joe D. Highfill, 77, was born September 23, 1932, and passed away on November 18, 2009. Joe was a graduate of Fair Grove High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War and was a retired insulator. On April 7, 2000, he was united in marriage to Ann Thomas. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Ruby Highfill; brother James; and wife, Donna. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Pamela Cleghorn; granddaughter Danielle Cleghorn; great-grandchildren, Haydan and Addison; sister-in-law, Lucy Highfill; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, their spouses and families. Funeral services will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home East at 10 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John’s Hospice, Thee Camp c/o Ann or Pam, or Second Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Lisa Riggins and St. John’s Hospice.
