Gayle Cooper left a message on August 26, 2018:
I met John whom I knew as Jack at the Maples. For years he sat at the table with my mother and another resident, Doris. My Mom who suffers from dementia has very little response to anyone. But she always responded to Jack. Jack would wheel himself into the dining hall and up to his usual place. Jack would smile and say good day or good evening. My Mom would smile and nod back. Some days that was the only smile I would see come from her. Jack was always supplied with Kleenexes which he offered to the two ladies. Then one day Doris was gone. Then recently Jack no longer came to the table but ate in the dining room next door. I would always peek into his room and see that he was there. I was so saddened last Friday to see his room empty. He was a quiet, pleasant, and dignified man who brought smiles to everyone he came into contact with, my Mom and I were among the lucky few.
