She is survived by her sister Alice Crone and brother-in-law Tom Crone, niece Angie Brushwood, and nephew Michael Crone. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Geneva and Bennett, brother Wayne, and sister Marilyn.
Joyce was born January 27, 1939, in Covington, Tennessee. She grew up in Covington with her sisters Marilyn and Alice and brother Wayne. She helped her mother and father on their cotton farm. After graduating from Byars-Hall High School in 1957, Joyce moved to Memphis with her family and gained employment as a secretary for H. Carlton Smith Lumberyard. Joyce worked as an assistant and bookkeeper for 40 years for Mr. Smith. After his death, she worked from home for an accounting practice for a number of years. She was known to be efficient and skilled in her work. Joyce moved to Springfield, Missouri, in 2000, where she resided until her death. She was a long-time member of the adult Sunday School class at Second Baptist Church, and she enjoyed the friendships she made there. She enjoyed visiting with family, tending to her flowers, and taking care of her two cats. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
