Joyce Kay Hinkle, 83, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on November 23, 2022. Joyce was born in Slagle, Missouri on July 29, 1939, to James Charles and Ila Lorene Human. Joyce was a graduate of Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, MO.
Joyce was dedicated to education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education K-8, Remedial Reading K-12, and Learning Disabilities K-12 from Southwest Baptist University. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University. She served on the board of the Learning Disabilities Association. She served on the PTA board as vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Joyce was also the vice president of the Missouri State Teachers Association. She enjoyed many things in life and excelled in everything she did. She was also the president of her bowling league. Joyce loved her students and friends, but her greatest joy was her family.
Joyce married Donald Gene Hinkle in 1960 they had three boys Mark Hinkle, Joe David Hinkle, and Dennis Hinkle. Donald Gene Hinkle went on to be with the Lord in 1986. She is survived by her three sons, eight grandkids, and six great grandkids.
A visitation for Joyce will be held on December 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Slagle Cemetery in Slagle, Missouri.
