Judy Wilson McKnight, of Springfield, Missouri, was promoted to heaven on Saturday, December 14, 2019. She was born Verna Judene Wilson to Martha Todd Wilson and Leonard Shadrack Wilson on June 17, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia. Judy was married to Douglas Jennings of Oxford, Alabama at age 17. From this union three sons were born.
Professionally, Judy began as a seamstress in a factory in Oxford, Alabama. Later, as a single mom, she enjoyed success in managing retail businesses in Titusville, Florida. Ultimately Judy got her brokerage license and began a career in real estate. After retiring from real estate she taught at Temple Christian School in Titusville. Through her work in real estate she met and married Joseph McKnight in May,1980. They were married until Joe’s death in 2009.
Serving the Lord was the passionate love of her life. Judy trusted Christ as Savior as a teenage girl. She served the Lord faithfully at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville, Florida, Crossroads Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Judy was passionate about her Lord, her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and collected “way too many” chickens (according to her family). She was a joy to all who met her and enjoyed spending time with her many loving friends and family.
Judy is survived by her sons Dennis (Jana) Jennings, Randy Jennings, David (Betty) Jennings, and Charlie (Lani) McKnight. Judy was known as “Grandmama” or “G-mama” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and scores of children and adults who enjoyed her love and affection. She is also survived by her sisters Pat Barnes and Dot Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri on Tuesday, December 17 at 11 a.m. The family will be receiving friends prior to the services at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Cherry Street Baptist Church.
Judy will be remembered as a fun-loving lady who loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ above all others, and selflessly loved her family and countless friends.
