Julia Rubyette Bumgardner [Known to many as Ruby or Aunt Ruby] passed away on January 30, 2015 in Springfield, MO at the age of 77.
Julia was born on July 7, 1937 in Denver, Colorado and lived in the Golden and Lyons area until 1959 when she married Paul E. Bumgardner. At this time she moved to Parachute, CO on the Western slope of the Rocky Mountains. In 1981 they moved to Lebanon, MO where Paul and Julia were happily married for 34 years.
Julia was proceeded in death by her parent’s Jennie N. Dickinson Curtis, Albion Percy Curtis and husband’s Ronald E. Speer and Paul E. Bumgardner. Grandson Wesley Ross.
Survivors include 2 son’s Donald D. Bumgardner, and his wife Sharon of Eldridge, MO. Kenneth S. Bumgardner, and his wife Debbie of Thornton, CO. and a Daughter Cheryl L. Hildebrand, and her husband Gary Leroy of Lebanon, MO.
8 Grandchildren Pat Bumgardner and his wife Lainey of Springfield, MO, Curtis Bumgardner and his wife Stephanie of Springfield, MO. Brandon Bumgardner, of Eldridge , MO Danica Bumgardner of Palm Coast, FL. Dimitra Bumgardner of Maine. Staci Morgan and her husband Jim of North Glen, CO. and Zethany Hildebrand of Lebanon, MO. 5 Great grandchildren Rebekah, Peyton, Tiana, Malachi , Elsie, & Many niece’s & nephew’s and one special niece Judy Hakansons.
Ruby would like to be remembered as a person who was gentle and kind.
During her life Ruby had many occupations , Wife of a rancher. She loved the ranch and working with the cattle and sheep. She also worked as precision inspector at Coors Porcelain, a manger of Tupperware for 10 years, Burns Security, Gambles Hardware, Ozark Lumber, Tiara Glassware, Consumers Floral Dept, and Nice Things Floral & Gifts. Ruby was also the owner of Rubyette’s Flea Market and Floral. Ruby loved flowers & designing Floral arrangements.
Ruby loved working with people and was a assistant at the high school in the art department for 2 years. Teaching Stained Glass, Bead Making & Photography. Where all the High School Students called her Aunt Ruby.
Her special interest was collecting costume jewelry, antique’s and glassware and all kinds of stuff. She loved animal’s especially her American Eskimo Dogs Moe and Enie, and her King Charles dog Mandy. Ruby loved all kinds of music especially Southern Gospel, Blue Grass, & Country Western music.
Ruby was a member of the Community of Christ Church joining the church in 1948.
A celebration of life will be held at Community of Christ Church in Lebanon, MO. On Friday February 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Come join us in celebration of life. A luncheon will be held at 12:00 pm for family and friends.
She will be buried in the Hufft Cemetery at Eldridge, MO.
