June Day Jones, 88, of Springfield, MO passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2016. She was born in Advance, MO. She graduated from Advance High School in 1945. She studied two years at Southeast MO University and received her teaching certificate. She taught K-12 in a one room school house, north of Advance, for a time before moving to St. Louis, where she trained to be a ballroom dance instructor. She opened and operated the June Day School of Dance, where she met our father, the love of her life. She chose to be a full-time wife and mother. She married Doyle J. Jones on June 16, 1954 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Advance, MO. She was a faithful member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank C. Day; her mother, Anna E. Bailey Day; four sisters, Ruth Rice, Wilma Holland, Lois Hayes, and Inez Kirby; a brother, Hubert F. Day; her husband, Doyle J. Jones.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Maudlin; two sons, David (Wanda) M. Jones, and Dan (Pamela) J. Jones; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, and a small host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 11 AM – 12:30 PM in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. The funeral service will be at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2 PM.
