Kenneth “K.W.” Austin
Kenneth,
88, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Butterfield Residential Care
Bolivar, MO. He was born in Silver City,
Iowa, on Oct. 31, 1925, to Lee and Othel Austin. He graduated from Hartville
High School and served in the Navy during WWII. Kenneth was a well-known
livestock dealer and operated the Mansfield Livestock Auction, Austin Cash Feed
Company, as well as the Diamond Feeder Pig and Hog Auction. As an ordained deacon, he was always active
in his local Baptist church, and most recently at Heritage Baptist Church of
Bolivar.
He
is preceded in death by his first wife Lucille Lindsay Austin and his sisters
Katherine Emmerson and Sybil Bowlin.
Kenneth
is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol Chapman Austin, his brother Lee
Austin, Jr., his sister Charlotte Austin, his sons Rex and wife Sara and David
and wife Judy, as well as 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The
funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 22, 2014, at Pitts Chapel
Bolivar, MO, with the burial service following at 3:00 p.m. at Coldwater
Cemetery, Wright County, MO. Visitation
will be held in the funeral home Friday, February 21, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00
p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Gideon’s International for the purchase and distribution of Bibles. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts
Chapel Bolivar, MO.
