Kim Leanne Stoops, 48, of Springfield, Mo., died November 4, 2009, at 3:54 p.m., in Cox South Medical Center, in Springfield, Mo., after a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 18, 1961, to Oren and Evelyn (Bass) Stoops, in Springfield, Mo. Kim graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1979, and then went on to Missouri State University, where she earned a B.S. in accounting and later an MBA. Later, using her education, she was honored to have had the opportunity to work at Tuthill Corporation for the last 20 years, where she made so many close and dear friends. Kim wanted to thank the care givers of 5 South at Cox South, where she received such great care. She is survived by her brother, Kevin and his wife, Theresa; her niece, Danielle; nephew Parker; and a multitude of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved cats, Frenchie, Rizzo and Mocha. A service will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens beside her mother and father. The family will receive friends and family in the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Her love of cats was well known, so in lieu of flowers, Kim had requested that a donation be made to the Humane Society or the American Cancer Society, to help those who could use the assistance.
