Laura (Crockett) Curnes, loving wife, step-mom, sister and friend to so many was taken from us much too soon on February 2, 2019 at the age of 49.
Laura was born in Springfield MO on February 27, 1969 to Elbridge and Nancy (Underwood) Crockett. The family moved to Kimberling City MO in 1979 where she graduated from Reeds Spring High School in 1987. She received her Associates degree from University of Central Missouri in 1991.
Laura spent many years working in the fashion retail business in Branson MO. Her zest for fashion and the hairstyles that went with it will be remembered by many. After caring for both of her parents during lengthy illnesses, Laura discovered a passion for helping others in need. She joined the Christian County Prosecutor’s office in 2010 as a Witness Victim Advocate and worked most recently there as a Legal Assistant.
Laura resided in Shell Knob, MO and is survived by her lifelong friend and loving husband of five years, Greg Curnes and step daughter Sydney Curnes. Sister, Stella (Crockett) Crewse and husband Rusty Crewse and their two children Russell Crewse and Beth Crewse. First husband Jim Blansit and his two daughters, Jennifer (Blansit) Grisham and Morgan (Blansit) Box and 5 grandchildren. Her Curnes family, Father in Law, Larry Curnes, Brother in Law, Lanny Curnes, Sister in Law, Monica Mahoney and their families. And her beloved pets, Lilly, Bendi & Bruce.
Laura had a passion for life that was contagious to all. She will be remembered for her love of her pets, gardening, a great bonfire, and her sage advice. She will be missed for her frequent phone calls to check in, keep in touch and lift up her friends to keep us together.
“We’ll talk to you tomorrow Laura.”
