Leo Smith Day, 89, of Nixa, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2021.
Leo was born near Republic, MO on June 30, 1931, to Marion S and Maude (Looney) Day. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Venita Fern Haden, on June 9, 1957, and from this union were born four children, Kevin, Kraig, Kyle, and Kristi. Soon thereafter, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Savior.
He and Venita were members of South Haven Baptist Church for 58 years, where he served the Lord by teaching Sunday school for primary-aged children, and by serving as an ordained deacon of the church. He also put his carpentry skills to work on the church’s inaugural men’s building mission trip to Montpelier, Vermont.
He worked at Kraft foods for 30-plus years. He loved hunting, fishing, working in his garden, lying about the size of his home-grown vegetables and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Venita Day of Nixa, MO; son, Kevin Day (Gretchen Day), Springfield, MO; son, Kraig Day (Katy Day), Springfield, MO; son, Kyle Day (Gil Mallory); Tampa, FL; daughter, Kristi Hutto (Justin Hutto), Dallas TX; daughter, Terry Bacon-Jenkins, Marshfield, MO; and nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Maude Day, sister, Emogene McDaniel, three brothers, Benton Day, Bearl Day, and Kenneth Day.
Services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Ryan Palmer officiating.

Celebration of Life: 12:30PM – 1:30PM
Interment: 2:00PM, Veteran’s Cemetery
