Letha Mae (Slavens) Lain, 91, of Springfield, was born on May 10, 1929 in Porum, OK to Earl and Martha (Jones) Slavens. She passed away on January 4, 2021.
Letha worked in nursing for the majority of her career. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Sadly, she outlived all of her children. When her daughter died, she raised her two young grandchildren. She loved to read, do puzzles, listen to country music, and eat good food. Her simple and delicious recipe for rolls has become legendary. Many small dogs, most recently a poodle named Smokey, found a loving home with her.
Letha was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Larry Wayne Slavens, Pearl Riggs, Mary “Cindy” Goin, Dorothy Reynolds and Ruby Daves; her children James Edward Peacock, Toby Ray Peacock, David Lee Peacock, and Debra Lynn Peacock. She is survived by her siblings Earl “Butch” (Linda) Slavens, Wanda “Sue” (Phillip) Ware, Willa “Deane” (Bobby) Barber, Jerry (Jane) Slavens, William “Joe” (Gloria) Slavens; grandchildren Jeremy (Ann) Peacock and Erin Peacock; great-grandchildren Alexa and Julia Peacock.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 4PM to 6PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North located at 3506 North National in Springfield, MO.
