Lillian Bernice (Courtois) Choate, age 93, was peacefully released from her earthly body May 22, 2016. No more pain. Bernice was born July 4, 1922 to Henry and Caroline Courtois. She married Willie F. Choate May 21, 1940. Together they raised 5 children. Devoted parents, they developed a close and loving family. That tight bond is a continued blessing for their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: James Choate of the home, John (Susi) Choate, Strafford, Judy Seely, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Janie (Kermit) Owens, Marionville, and Willie “Gene” (Patty) Choate, Strafford, grandchildren; Janie Seely, Patty (Michael) Moore, Teresa (Roger) Hodges, Donald Choate, Kermit (Eve) Owens, Justin (Abby) Owens, and granddaughter-in-law, Karen Choate, also 9 great-children and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie, and 2 grandsons, William A. Seely and most recently, John W. Choate. Visitation will be at Greenlawn North on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be Thursday, May 26th, 10:00am. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery. Mom’s kitchen was her domain. A fantastic cook, she enjoyed feeding all who came into her home. Many have enjoyed her fried chicken and apple pie. Mom, your rest is well earned and our love and gratitude goes with you.
