Lloyd Leon “Slick” Hiler was born November 25, 1931 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Charles & Rose Hiler. He passed away at Mercy Hospital on November 6, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Leon was in the Army from 1949–1952 and served in the Korean War. He was a power lineman for almost 50 years. He retired from Southwestern Power Administration in 1997. He was an avid fisherman and loved the sport. He fished many tournaments and enjoyed spending his free time on the lake in his boat. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, his favorite baseball team. However, his family was his life and his number one priority.

Leon trusted the Lord as his Savior in 1954 and was a lifelong member of Seminole Baptist Temple.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles & Rose Hiler; brothers Floyd Hiler and Sherman and wife Connie Hiler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Shirley; two daughters Angela and husband Jim Smith of Springfield; Sheila and husband Ken Dawson of Springfield; grandson Adam Dawson of Springfield; step-grandsons Timmy Smith of Springfield; Matthew and wife Cady Smith of Springfield; step great-grandchildren Harper, Holden & Hanson Smith of Springfield, along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9 from 9:00-11:00am at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield, MO. Graveside service will be immediately following at 1:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mt. View, Missouri.
