Lois Evelyn Pearson was born September 1, 1928, in Greeley, Colorado. She was welcomed by parents Axel and Agda, brother Kenneth, and sister Charlotte.
She graduated from Greeley High School in 1946 and from Trinity Bible College (now Trinity International University) in 1950. She married Jack Owen Johns October 5, 1962. They made their home in Lancaster, California where Lois was actively involved in her church and neighborhood. Jack passed away just before their 25th anniversary. Lois joined her family in Missouri, and made her home in Springfield.
Lois sang in several choirs, painted beautiful pictures, and crafted gifts of all sorts. She and Jack enjoyed road trips, camping, visits to Hawaii, and photography. Lois volunteered at Stonecroft Ministries and St. Johns Mercy Hospital for many years. She was also a member of Ozarks Scandinavian Society of Springfield, Missouri (OSSSM).
Lois studied the Bible and prayed faithfully. Her favorite Bible verses included John 3:16, Philippians 4:6-7, and Proverbs 3:5-6. When she took her last breath, Lois’s devotional book was open to August 7th. The title of the devotional is “Don’t be Afraid” with the verse “God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid” (Isaiah 12:2). It includes a poem by Sper: “When fear and worry test your faith And anxious thoughts assail, Remember, God is in control, And He will never fail.” The final words were “God is in control, so we have nothing to fear.”
Lois is survived by two nieces, three nephews, Jack’s niece Dianne Krantz, and her many spiritual brothers and sisters at Springs Church. Mary Kay Pearson Witte, Sandy Magnuson, Ken Pearson, Roger Magnuson, and Doug Pearson extend their appreciation to Lois’s friends at Springs Church who provided incredible support and assistance during the last several years of her time on earth.
Friends and loved ones will gather to give thanks for Lois’s time on this earth at Springs Church on Tuesday morning, August 20th, at 10:00. She will be laid to rest by her sister and brother-in-law at New Liberty Cemetery near Tunas, Missouri. A memorial fund has been established at Springs Church.
