Loretta Faye Williams passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021 with her loving family around her at Ravenwood Assisted Living in Springfield, Missouri.
Loretta was born on the family farm in Red Top, Dallas County, Missouri, the third of four children.
Loretta spent her working career as a Switchboard Operator/Receptionist for 39 years at Commerce Bank and an additional 2 years at Regents Bank of Springfield.
Her favorite pastime was shopping for clothes and jewelry and if you went with her you better be prepared to “shop til you drop”.
Loretta and Robert Dale (Bob) Williams met while each were crusin’, he in his yellow ’57 Chevy “Lemondrop” and she in her baby-blue Ford Fairlane convertible at the local Fisher’s Hi-Boy and Taylor’s drive-ins in Springfield. He proposed on Valentine’s Day and they were married July 4, 1958.
Loretta and Bob also enjoyed watching and attending Nascar Races and going to local car shows with their own 1937 candy-apple red Chevy and Corvettes.
Loretta and Bob never had any children of their own but loved spoiling their many nieces and nephews as their own. She loved all of her family and friends very much and spent many special times with them. The past 11 years were spent at The Waterford Independent Living where she enjoyed many special times with friends there also. As her health declined she recently moved to Ravenwood Assisted Living and then into Hospice Care.
Loretta, affectionally called “Raa-Raa” by her nieces and nephews was a loving, giving person to everyone around her. We will all miss her.
Loretta and Bob were both saved the same day at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Olive, Missouri and Loretta was baptized at Canaan Missionary Church in Springfield, Missouri,
Loretta was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Robert (Bob) Williams in 2003; a niece, Cheryl Butcher; niece, Misty McMillan; Her parents, Harley Lois McMillan and Ida Belle (Anderson) McMillan, as well as several extended family members.
She is survived by her siblings, sisters, Virginia Lee Norton and Bonnie Mae Wilkins and one brother, J.D. McMillan (Linda), all of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family wants to thank the caring staff at The Waterford, Integrity Care, and Ravenwood Assisted Living and most recently, Integrity Hospice Care.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, with visitation from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The casket will be closed at all times.
