Lorraine Emily Riley was born on November 8, 1937 to Andrew Garfield and Marjorie Marie Carothers. She was born at the family home in Manilla Iowa. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Manilla as an infant. She attended school in Manilla Iowa and graduated there. She was very active in sports and played the trumpet in band. Her summers were spent at the Gessmann farm with her grandfather. She attended Tarkio College in Tarkio Missouri. She received her BS from Midwestern College in Denison Iowa and her Special Education Degree from Conway Arkansas. While attending Tarkio College she met the love of her life, Jimmie Dewitt Riley. August 6, 1961 they were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church in Manilla Iowa. To this union four children were born. Laura Ann Henson, Sara Nadine Dysinger (Robert), Andrew Howard Riley (Amie). She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jimmie was in the United States Army and the family travelled to Okinawa Japan and Stuttgart Germany and many Army bases throughout the United States. She was very active teaching Sunday School, Bible School, Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader and School. Assisted with basketball, softball, and swimming. A very devout Christian, active in all the churches she attended with her family throughout the years. She attended Westside Christian Church in Republic Missouri, while a member she did the Card Ministry until her vision declined. Lorraine enjoyed travelling, playing cards, watching sports, sewing and baking. She was a member of the American Legion, Awillary, AAUW, Lions Club, and retired Teachers Association. She is preceded in death by her stillborn daughter, parents, two sisters, one nephew and one brother in-law. Survivors include her husband Jimmie Riley of the home, Laura Henson, Sara Dysinger (Robert) of Clever Mo, Andrew Howard Riley (Amie), Amber Riley, and Sophia Riley of Tarkio Mo, Ronnie Joe Duff (Erin) of Knox Indiana, Andrew Montgomery Riley (Tina), Emily Farmer (Stephen), and Kristopher Riley of Springfield Mo. Bob Carothers (Bev) of Goodyear Arizona, John Dorfler of Ricketts Iowa, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all family and friends she has made throughout the years.
